Our menus change daily according to the seasonal availability of ingredients from local markets and our farm on Bintan. The emphasis is on the freshest ingredients prepared simply, with a fusion of Indonesian and international flavours. Barbecued seafood, local dishes and tropical fruit feature prominently on the menu as well as a variety of fresh vegetables, free-range chicken and eggs from our farm.

Daily menus are put up on blackboards in both restaurants and whilst they are fixed the kitchen is happy to tailor them according to any specific dietary requirements.

Embracing The Spirit Of A Simple Dinner Party

Wining and dining with us should be like a dinner party with friends. A place where comfortable surroundings, good food and personal service come together. We want guests to enjoy the best of our favourite local dishes, and to hear the stories behind them. We have set menus for every meal, which differ depending on the local ingredients that are in season.

KEBUN REJA - OUR FARM

In addition to a small permaculture garden on the island, we have been gradually developing a 7-hectare farm on Bintan using permaculture principles. Permaculture in agriculture is a holistic approach to natural resource management, where natural systems are designed to work harmoniously together, going beyond just organic and free-range practices.

We now have over 1000 free-range chickens supplying eggs and chicken meat to both Nikoi and Cempedak, as well as quails. Our farm produces an abundance of chillies, Asian greens, a wide variety of herbs and spices, salads, corn, beans, and tomatoes, providing a regular flow of freshly picked produce to our kitchens. Fruit trees such as papaya, mulberries, and jackfruit offer fresh inspiration for locally inspired desserts and seasonal cocktails.

Through sourcing local ingredients, we support
the communities around us and conserve the
traditions of Indonesian cuisine and culture.

Thanks to our set menus, food waste is next
to nothing which, especially in the hospitality industry, is something we are very proud of.

Any food waste that we do produce is transformed into nutrient-rich compost by black soldier fly larvae who, when their job is done, sacrifice themselves as feed for our chickens. This closed-loop system is just one of the many discoveries we have made along the way, which have helped us stay true to our commitment of achieving sustainability through the 4Cs of conservation, community, culture and commerce.

This framework is adopted from The Long Run, an international membership organisation we are very proud to be a part of and recognised by.

OUR RESTAURANTS

There are two restaurants on Nikoi, the main restaurant and Restaurant Biru by the pool area.  The main restaurant has two dining areas, each with a 9m long dining table made from an impressive piece of driftwood. The main restaurant offers Indonesian dishes whereas Restaurant Biru has a Mediterranean menu, and both have western options for kids. Alternatively, guests can opt to dine under the stars on the beach or the jetty.

The daily board charge includes 3 meals plus most activities and is charged at S$100++ per day per adult and S$50++ for children (free for children under 4 years old).  The daily board charge excludes drinks although drinking water, tea and brewed coffee are provided free of charge except for espresso coffees which are charged.

ISLAND LIFE
COOKBOOK

After years of guests requesting for recipes from the island, we decided to compile our favourites into a cookbook. Island Life: Recipes from Nikoi and Cempedak Islands was published at the end of 2023 and is available for purchase in various locations: online, on the islands, in bookstores across Singapore and Indonesia, and as an eBook. The collection features our beloved recipes along with stories from our islands and beyond, and is currently in its second edition.

BEVERAGES

A reasonably priced selection of beer, wine, spirits and soft drinks is available. Our head barman is famous for his cocktails both classic and with a fusion of local flavours. Be sure to check out our excellent range of carefully sourced Rums, Gins, Whiskies and other spirits too.

We allow guests to bring their own wine but please note the alcohol limit for Indonesia is 1 litre per person and we charge corkage of S$25++ per bottle of wine. We do not allow BYO spirits or beer. There is no mini-bar in the houses but a cool box full of ice and drinks can be made available.

DIETARY

Both restaurants serve a fixed menu that changes daily and is written on the blackboard each morning. Before every meal, our team will let you know what’s coming next - that’s your chance to request any changes or let us know if your child would prefer to eat from the adults’ or kids’ menu.

Our food is all about fresh, unprocessed ingredients, prepared simply and with care. If you or your child have any allergies or particular dislikes, please let our team know when booking or on arrival - our kitchen is well-versed in accommodating special requirements.
